“Your ultimate goal is to be happy. Where is that happiness? Within you. If you want to have permanent happiness, it will never come from outside.  You are happiness and peace personified.  Find that happiness and peace within you.”
--Sri Swami Satchidananda, founder of Integral Yoga

Yoga Classes

Yoga for Relaxation is based on the foundation of Integral Yoga and the Integral philosophy to "take it easy but not lazy."  It begins with gentle stretching and yoga poses (asana) followed by a deep relaxation practice with mindful attention to breath and body.  In this class, we emphasize cultivating mindfulness as we integrate postures, body alignment, breath awareness, relaxation and meditation.

Yin Yoga is a meditative practice that targets the deep connective tissues of the body and the fascia that covers the internal organs; it’s designed to regulate the flow of energy in the body. Yin Yoga postures are more passive postures, mainly on the floor. Participants relax in the posture and soften the muscles, thereby targeting the tendons and ligaments. Yin yoga improves flexibility and is beneficial for those who run or cycle. While yang-like yoga practices are more superficial, Yin offers much deeper access to the body and mind. It is not uncommon to see postures held for three to five minutes.

Hatha Yoga emphasizes asana and breathing (pranayama) with mental focus so the individual can develop awareness, build strength, flexibility, and relaxation. Benefits include: increased flexibility and muscle tone, improved focus, reduced stress, increased breathing capacity, and further develops the connection between mind and body.

Vinyasa Yoga emphasizes the connection between asana and the breath for a transformative and balancing effect. Classes build heat, endurance, flexibility and strength. The creative sequencing found in a vinyasa class is often built around the surya namaskar (sun salutations) . Vinyasa as a form is always evolving, so no two classes are entirely the same.

Therapeutic Gentle Yoga focuses on working with individuals with specific needs, making yoga accessible to those who suffer from physical, mental and emotional challenges.

Mindful Meditation offers deep and lasting benefits for concentration, awareness of self and physical health and well-being.  The many benefits of meditation include stress reduction, increased ability to focus and concentrate, learning to restrain from rumination and perseverating thoughts, improved learning capacity and memory, and an enhanced well-being and sense of peace.  When we are mindful, we are present in life.  We are paying attention to what is happening right here and right now, so that we can live our lives fully instead of dwelling in the past or worrying about the future.  In this class, we explore the concepts of mindfulness and relaxation. Students are be introduced to various forms of mindful meditations including visualization, sitting meditations and yoga nidra (deep relaxation).

Yoga Workshops are unique and can be run individually or as a series. Past workshops have included Yoga for Stress Management, Yoga for Self-Compassion, Yoga for Runners and Yoga To Reduce Inflammation.

Weekend retreats are three days/two nights.
  • Wellness Retreat for Educators is a weekend of yoga classes, meditation sessions, silent reflection, healthy meals, and informative seminars. It’s a chance to commune, connect, and contemplate in a resplendent natural environment. In addition to beginning or deepening your own mind/body practices, you’ll also learn about the benefits of using mindfulness in the classroom and will walk away with a few techniques to help you improve students’ engagement and resilience over time. This weekend is suitable for those who already practice yoga or meditation, as well as for those who want to turn curiosity about mind/body wellness into a commitment to it.
    • Next retreat will be held April 24-26, 2020 in the Ardennes, Belgium
  • The Mind Peace Retreat: Mindfulness for Mothers and their Tween-aged daughters is a collaborative effort between educators, counselors, school psychologists and mothers and offers mothers and their adolescent daughters the opportunity to bond, build empathy, practice kindness and explore compassion with one another.
