Mindfulness for Educators is 10-week mindfulness and stress management curriculum for teachers in primary and secondary schools. This course is designed to give educators the tools they need to create and sustain their own mindfulness practice, an important first step in learning to incorporate mindfulness in the classroom. Twenty years’ research on mindfulness shows promising results in school-based practices including a reduction in behavioral issues and absenteeism among students, increases in ability to focus and pay attention and improved academic performance. Teachers trained in mindfulness experience physiological benefits including lower blood pressure and fewer symptoms of depression and an increase in compassion and empathy.
Self-Compassion for Educators is 10-week follow-up course to the Mindfulness for Educators and is currently being developed. This course will enhance one's current mindfulness practice and help fortify emotional resilience and self-care for those working in schools where self-care and self-compassion often is put aside to focus on the care of others.
Yoga for Stress Management is designed to bring the nervous system into balance through a series of yoga practices. By quieting the sympathetic nervous system, stress hormone production decreases diminishing toxic stress and vagal tone improves thereby improving overall cardiovascular, digestive, endocrine and immune health. The class teaches participants to become more mindful and aware of the stressors in their lives and how to respond rather than react to those stressors through movement, breathing practices, meditation and mind-set.
